    VISIT TO THE AGBAR TOWER.
    26TH JANUARY 2011

    The French architect Jean Nouvel, is the latest icon of Barcelona. Opened in 2005, has 144 meters and 28 floors
    (four of them underground). It is the third tallest building in the city. Group houses the headquarters of Aguas de Barcelona.

  • The Agbar Group is now the head of a big holding company consisting of over 150 companies and 140 years of history operating in areas related to community services: water cycle and health, among others.   • Many members attended to the Assembly and the President of AEFE, Mr. Jorge Castellá de Cot, took the opportunity to take stock of all activities that have occurred since the birth of AEFE,  in 1991.  And in 2011 AEFE is celebrating its 20th Anniversary and he exposed the special program for this purpose too.
 
 

 

  • The various participants in the Assembly followed carefully the agenda, while participating in a very active, in a subsequent conversation very enlightening.

 
 

 

  • AEFE tune with the activities on the occasion of the proclamation of the UN "International Year of Chemistry. " The worldwide celebration of the achievements of chemistry and its contribution to the welfare of mankind.

    In addition, the chemistry is helping to create food to eradicate hunger in the Third World and other substances for the elimination of diseases.
 
 

 

  • The declaration of 2011 as International Year of Chemistry is an initiative of the IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, its acronym in English) and UNESCO, and was decreed by the UN General Assembly on 30 December 2008. Under the theme "Chemistry: our life, our future" ("Chemistry - our lives, our future"), the goals of this commemoration are to increase public appreciation of chemistry as a key tool to meet the needs of society, promote interest in chemistry among young people, and generate enthusiasm for the creative future of chemistry.

  • AEFE is attending the activities to mark the 150th Anniversary of l'Ateneu Barcelonès. The story of l'Ateneu is the story of its gradual opening to the whole society. Since its inception, has accompanied urban life as a tribune of the highest significance and magnitude. At present, modernizing l'Ateneu is irreversible and ongoing projects confirm this. Today l´Ateneu  is again a social relation and reaffirming its role citizen civic, intellectual and cultural. It is in this context that Ateneu wants to celebrate 150 years of activities with a look at the present and future.

  • The auditorium of The Royal Artistic Circle was full and the participants followed carerfully the development of the event.

     

 

  • Attendees flocked the facilities of The Royal Artistic Club of Barcelona, visited the exhibition, bought pictures whose proceeds will go to Japan and offered their solidarity contributions in money boxes, located for this reason.

     

     

     

 

  • The Hon. Xavier Trias i Vidal de Llobatera, Mayor of Barcelona, wanted to personally support the initiative so beneficial and visited the exhibition, which he found in their full pleasure.

  • The Japanese Consulate in Barcelona has supported this initiative, as evidenced by the presence of the Honourable Mr. Hidehiro Tsubaki, Consul General of Japan both in the opening of the exhibition, as in the different conferences. It also maintains a very cordial relationship with the AEFE Foundation and in the photography he is next to Mr. Jorge Castellá de Cot, AEFE Foundation President.
